Distracted

I had an odd dream last night, one that starred three of my current students and possibly a man I play hockey with (possibly, because I think he was a composite character).

I met them in a Metro station, one that doesn't exist. I drove them around downtown Montreal in a car, but it wasn't really downtown Montreal and it certainly wasn't my car.

The weird part came after that. You know those dreams when you have to take a test and realize you're naked? I had what must be the other side of that coin. I had a date with one of the students. I think I parked at the top of McTavish, and as we walked toward the McGill ghetto, I realized I was only in my burgundy boxers (those are real). We returned to the car so I could put my clothes on, but the student said it was fine and got down to her underwear. Then we got a parking ticket.

I spent most of Friday looking for more paying work. The most immediate dividend was an interview for a Web community position on Wednesday. Friday, I go to court to resolve this. That must be where the dream's parking ticket came in.

Hahahaha

A couple nights ago, I dreamed of PJ Stock and I only remembered when I saw a guy of roughly the same build jogging down the street in downtown Montreal.

Last night, my dream had something to do with being assigned to a soccer (read Euro ish) production as something like a runner, but also as a friend/very lucky individual who got to hang out with the teams... and explained to the coaches of both teams (after the other team tied the game with about 10 seconds to go and no one was too concerned about overtime and player fatigue), that 5 or 6 NHL teams had ended their contracts with their NHL affiliates and that now, they would be sending players down to the minors - read junior.

Of course the coaches were a bit confused, what with concentrating on the soccer and all. Once the pizza came (one with lotsa different olives on it - like an olive grape cluster pizza or something), and we were all sitting down at cafeteria-like tables (though with chairs) in a parking lot of an outlet-type mall - but clearly just off the field - they asked me to explain it again.

So I gave the example that the Toronto Maple Leafs, one of the teams involved, would be sending their guys to their junior affiliate, which makes no sense, I said, because then rookies who are trying to develop would be playing against teens rather than NHLers who were having a rough patch, so how would they ever get better?

We all agreed it was a stupid move and enjoyed the pizza. And we were all strangely content. (Despite my nagging concerns, once awake, that the game never ended and the players are going to be bloated and we need to know who won because it affects the future/next round/me keeping my super cool job).

In summary, I like dreams.

PS: PJ was just a character in the dream, which was filled with other people that I can't remember, rather than the object of the dream, as my phrasing seems to inaccurately indicate.

Don't go spreading stories...

The story gets weirder. One student wore some underwear over her regular clothes to my class today. She'd lost a bet.
